An Unexpected Last Hurrah!

This one is going to be kind of long. We didn't do a whole lot the past month so I'm going to clump it all together. The first weekend we got here was a three day weekend and we went up to Yamagata to check out a mountain temple (Yamadera) and then over to a ski resort area with hot springs all over. We wanted to go hiking to a crater up in the mountains but it was crazy windy and rainy so we wondered around town and hiked to a frozen lake instead. The onsen was definitely the highlight.

Onsen with a great view!

The weekend after that we went back to Kannonzaki park find the spot where Godzilla came ashore. Only one foot print remains as evidence and even that has shrunk after all the years of ageing...or, something?

Of course no trip to Kannonzaki is complete without some roller slide action! We came prepared this time and picked up some plastic seats so we could slide down even faster! Pardon the squealing, it was a lot more intense ;)

On the way back to Yokosuka we stumbled across a delicious mom and pop hotel/restaurant and enjoyed a surprisingly large meal of just about everything!

The next adventure we kept super close to home and went to go play with some seahawks on base. These seahawks are famous for nabbing people's food when you're not looking. They are super quick and quite accurate. We baited them with some bread and it wasn't long before there was a whole flock above our heads trying to get in on the action. Jordan only got nicked once. I would have screamed and ran away...

I swear this isn't photo shopped

Look out Jordan!

Feeding the masses

The last trip was a hike up to a to a plum grove in Taura. The trees had only just begun to bloom but we found another obstacle course playground and a nice lookout tower.

Until Next Time!?
